Percussion Auditions at IWU

VIDEO auditions now being accepted for all instruments and vocalists. Due to recent CDC guidelines on-campus auditions have been suspended for the foreseeable future. To upload your audition video you must first apply to IWU. After submitting your application you will receive an email with instructions for accessing your student status portal. Once you have logged in to your portal you will be able to upload your audition video using the edit portfolio link. Audition Requirements:

Snare Drum:

Advanced concert etude or solo of your choice.
3-5 contrasting orchestral excerpts.
Optional rudimental solo.

Keyboard:

2 or 4-mallet marimba solo of your choice.
Optional: 2-3 contrasting xylophone excerpts.
Optional: vibraphone solo or etude of your choice.

Timpani:

A solo or etude of your choice.
Optional: 2-3 contrasting orchestral excerpts.

Drum-set:
This is not required but it is highly recommended that the applicant be able to demonstrate between 3-5 styles (swing with sticks/brushes; funk; afro-cuban, etc.) on drum-set.

Prior to scheduling your audition, please have the following information available:

Title/Composer of each piece to be performed
Length of each composition
Instrument(s) needed
Past repertoire studied
Length of time spent studying audition repertoire

What to expect on weekday auditions: After registering for your audition, you will receive a schedule which will include:

Tour of campus
Meeting with an admissions counselor
Ensemble rehearsal
Lunch with a current music student
